Vision
Dan Onorato's vision for Allegheny County is simple: to continue building upon the great successes in economic development, reclamation of our region's brownfields, and creation and expansion of high-tech businesses and jobs resulting from university research and development. New development brings new jobs to our region, which in turn keeps young people and families in Southwestern Pennsylvania, making it a vibrant place to live, work, and play.
Pittsburgh Airport Corridor
There are nearly 9,000 acres of undeveloped land surrounding Pittsburgh International Airport (PIA). Onorato believes creating shovel-ready land is the key to jump-starting development, stimulating job growth and attracting new business within the airport corridor and surrounding area.
Brownfield Redevelopment
Allegheny County is in the unique position of having more than 2,000 acres of undeveloped brownfields along the region's three rivers. Onorato wants to continue the great strides we have made in transforming former industrial sites and abandoned mills into riverfront housing, retail and business developments.
University Research & Development
Allegheny County is home to world-class medical, educational and research institutions. These organizations play a vital role in the economic health of our region, and Onorato's administration works hard to ensure that these institutions continue to grow and thrive.
