County executive Dan Onorato asks Southwest Airlines to add Pittsburgh flights

Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato flew to Dallas on Monday for a meeting with Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly.
The goal of the trip, said Onorato spokesman Kevin Evanto, is to persuade Pittsburgh International Airport's second-busiest carrier to expand its presence here. Southwest (NYSE:LUV) is already up to 23 flights a day, he said.

With fuel prices skyrocketing and carriers slashing flights and raising fees, it might be next to insane to try to persuade an airline to expand in Pittsburgh or anywhere else at this time.
But that's exactly what Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato will be doing today, when he travels to Dallas to meet with Southwest Airlines and its chief executive officer, Gary Kelly.
